Revenge Porn

Intensely personal images have been shared without the subjects' agreement in 1 in 10 cases involving women under the age of 30. One area where the online world and prejudice collide is in non-consensual photosharing, typically referred to as revenge porn. There are techniques to combat this kind of cybersexual abuse even though our laws are still lagging behind. Revenge porn, also known as nonconsensual pornography or cybersexual assault, is the practice of disclosing an intimate photo of another person without that person's consent. 


  • You have the right to anticipate that private photographs will stay that way. It is not your fault and nonconsensual pornography is never appropriate.

  • You have the right to put an end to the harassment and make the individual who disseminated your photographs liable. Nearly all states in the United States have legislation defending anyone harmed by nonconsensual porn.

  • You have the right to request that the pictures be taken down from the internet.
