Sexual Violence

Sexual violence is increasingly common and harmful to communities and individuals. Over half of women and 1 in 3 men have dealt with this. It evidently hurts groups differently as it is more common with women and ethnic minorities. Sexual violence also often involves an abuse of power and abusing power to coerce someone into sexual activity.


The short-term and long-term ramifications are:

  • PTSD

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Eating Disorders

  • Fear of relationships

  • Destructive relationship with body

  • Drug use

  • Poor work performance

  • Sexual health issues

  • Suicidal thoughts

  • Negative thoughts surrounding sex
